Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: 18 March 2026

BattleStation (battlestation.build) participates in affiliate programmes with hardware retailers. This page explains what that means, what it does not mean, and how it affects you.

1. What Is an Affiliate Link

When you click a product link on BattleStation and make a qualifying purchase on the retailer's website, we may earn a small commission. The price you pay is not affected — you pay exactly the same amount whether you arrived via an affiliate link or typed the retailer's address directly.

Affiliate commissions are how BattleStation funds its free service. Without them, operating costs (hosting, data licensing, development) would need to be covered by subscriptions or advertising — neither of which we currently use.

2. Our Affiliate Partners

We currently participate in the following affiliate programmes. This list will be updated before any new affiliate links go live.

  • Amazon Associates Programme — As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Links to Amazon storefronts (including Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.pl, and others) may be affiliate links.
  • Additional retailers (such as Morele.net, Ceneo, or Alternate) may be added in the future. This page will be updated before any such links appear on the site.

Where no affiliate relationship exists for a retailer shown in price comparisons, that retailer's link is a plain, non-affiliate link.

3. How This Affects Our Compatibility Results and Content

It doesn't. Our compatibility checking algorithm operates entirely independently of any affiliate relationships. The algorithm has no knowledge of which retailer links are affiliate links and which are not — it processes only technical specifications. We do not promote, rank, favour, or demote any product or retailer because of commission potential.

We do not accept payment from manufacturers or retailers to feature, rank, or recommend any specific product. Our editorial content, missing-parts reports, and community upvotes are unaffected by commercial considerations.

4. Legal Basis for This Disclosure

This disclosure is made in compliance with the following laws and contractual requirements:

  • EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC), Annex I item 11 — which explicitly prohibits promoting products through editorial content without making the commercial relationship clear. This is an absolute prohibition (no fairness test) enforced by national consumer protection authorities across all EU member states.
  • Polish Act on Counteracting Unfair Market Practices (2007) — which implements the UCPD in Poland and is enforced by UOKiK (Urząd Ochrony Konkurencji i Konsumentów — Office of Competition and Consumer Protection).
  • FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255, updated 2023) — which require clear and conspicuous disclosure of any material connection between a content publisher and a brand for users visiting from the United States.
  • Amazon Associates Operating Agreement, Section 5 — which requires Associates to clearly identify their participation in the programme and include the statement "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" or a substantially similar statement.

5. Where Disclosures Appear

To meet the FTC's "clear and conspicuous" standard and EU transparency requirements, affiliate disclosures appear in three places:

  1. Footer notice on every page: "Some links on this site are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases — at no extra cost to you." (Already implemented.)
  2. This dedicated disclosure page — providing full detail on our affiliate relationships, partners, and the legal basis for disclosure. (Already implemented.)
  3. Inline labels near affiliate links — product pages and builder pages will display a small "Affiliate" label near buy buttons to make it clear at the point of interaction. (Planned.)

6. Third-Party Cookies Set by Retailers

When you click an affiliate link you are taken to the retailer's website. That retailer may set their own cookies to track the referral for commission attribution. These cookies are set by the retailer on their domain — not by BattleStation. For more information see our Cookie Policy.
